Planning offers two primary document storage options, by organizational unit or Planning item. This article will review document storage options for Planning items. If you would like to learn about unit document storage we encourage you to review the Planning Documents article. 
 
Two fields can be added to any template to provide document storage for Planning users. Depending on how an institution chooses to make use of its Planning site will inform how they implement these fields.
 
If you would like to see these or other fields added we encourage you to speak with your site administrator, as only users with this permission can make a
 
In the screenshot below you can see an example of a Large Rich Text Box and Source field. Users have the ability to add multiple folders and files and rename both within of the Planning experience.  
 
A combination of both fields can be added to a template and site administrators are not limited to adding one or the other. It is also important to note that site administrator can add more than one Source or Large Rich Text field to a template.

LARGE RICH TEXT BOX

 
The first option is to add a large rich text box to a template. Doing so adds not only a text box for user’s to enter a response, but can also add a file library as well. This visually helps a viewer of the item understand that there is a relationship between the response in the text box and the attached files.
 
A site administrator will need to ensure they have checked the “Has File Library” option in the field settings of the given template in order for a user to have the ability to add files and folders.

SOURCES FIELD

 
The second option is to add a sources field to a template. The purpose of a sources field is only document storage. A sources field is a great option if users need a general storage area for a single Planning item. 
 
A site administrator will need to ensure they have checked the “Has File Library” option in the field settings of the given template in order for a user to have the ability to add files and folders.
